"Black - Blanc - beur"
Expression in French that became popular in the 90s especially after France won the football world cup in 1998.
The expression refers to multi-ethnic France ( in comparison to its tricolor flag called "bleu, blanc, rouge"). Beur in French is a non-derogatory term to refer to French children of immigrants of North african origin.
The expression is also the name of the hip hop troupe created by Jean Djemad and Christine Coudun in 1984 and also refers to the song Black and white blues, composed by Serge Gainsbourg for Joëlle Ursull for the Eurovision song contest in 1990 (for which she got the second place).
