Climate disruption

Joint statement by M. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, President of the Paris COP21, and Mr Manuel Pulgar Vidal, President of the Lima COP20 - Paris, 29 December 2014

As presidents of COP20 and COP21, we express our deep wish for a global agreement to be reached next year to limit temperature rises to 2°C.

The scientific reality of climate disruption and the seriousness of its consequences are now established facts. The means to act exist and are known. The benefits expected from such global action are clear. There must now be sufficiently strong political will in order for every country to commit itself so that, on the basis of the results obtained in Lima in December 2014, an ambitious agreement is reached in Paris in December 2015.

This is our dearest wish, to which we shall devote all our efforts./.
