European Climate Action Days 2016 – Tree planting ceremony (16th December 2016)
On the occasion of the European Climate Action Day, the Embassies of France, the Netherlands, and Germany organized on 16th December, in partnership with the European Commission Representation in Malta and with the support of the Ministry for Environment, a tree planting ceremony at the Marsaskala Family Park. This event took place in the presence of the Minister for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Climate Change Dr. José Herrera.
55 trees were planted; which of them has the name of one of those children who participated earlier this year in the image competition on the topic: “What can I do to save the Climate?”
Minister Herrera took this opportunity to remind “the importance of the Paris Agreement which sets ambitious targets regarding the control of emissions to try and curb climate change”. Malta was the fourth European Union member state to finalize the ratification process of the Agreement.
