Tribute to Nicolo Issouard at the Bir Miftuħ lnternational Music Festival [fr]

A concert in tribute to Nicolo Issouard, whose 200th anniversary of death is being celebrated this year, was given on 16th June 2018 as part of the 22nd edition of the Bir Miftuħ lnternational Music Festival and supported by the French Embassy.

Accompanied by the mezzo-soprano Clare Ghigo, a string quartet performed the great works of the French-born Maltese composer. The group delighted his numerous audience with extracts from Cendrillon, Jeannot et Colin, Joconde, Les Rendez-vous Bourgeois, Sinfonia C in minor and Le Billet de Loterie.

Organised by the association Din l-Art Helwa, the Bir Miftuħ lnternational Music Festival takes place every year at the medieval church of Santa Maria ta’ Bir Miftuħ, a unique historic place.

Do not miss the representations of the Opera “Cendrillon” from Nicolo Issouard on 28th and 30th June at the Teatru Manoel.
